Nina Bell is an active performer and private instructor based in Cleveland, OH. Besides her position of Principal Trumpet of the CityMusic Cleveland Chamber Orchestra, she holds the Second Trumpet positions in both the Mansfield and Firelands Symphony Orchestras. She has also performed as substitute with the Cleveland Pops Orchestra, Akron Symphony, Canton Symphony, Opera Circle, Ashland Symphony and Jackson Symphony Orchestras. Nina has attended prestigious orchestral summer festivals in Colorado, California, and Japan. In addition to her busy performance schedule, Nina teaches private trumpet lessons in Bay Village, Avon Lake and Shaker Heights.
Nina began her formal classical music training at Northwestern University, in Evanston, IL, where she studied with Charlie Geyer and Barbara Butler, and received a Bachelor of Music with Departmental Honors in Trumpet Performance. She went on to earn a Master of Music degree at the Cleveland Institute of Music, studying with Cleveland Orchestra Principal Trumpet Michael Sachs.
Nina enjoys performing chamber music as well, in a brass quintet setting and also with her husband, trombonist Sebastian Bell, in their duo Double Bell Brass. Nina’s nonmusical interests and hobbies include spending time outdoors, reading, cooking, and contemplating the mysteries of the universe. She lives in Cleveland Heights with her husband, Sebastian, her adorable new son, Elliot, and her sweet and lovable cat, Clover.
