Stefan Willich leads a varied program that evokes both the chill and the warmth of the holiday season, from Mozart’s Sleigh Ride and Josef Suk’s Meditation, inspired by St. Wenceslas, to Haydn’s “Fire” Symphony, Falla’s Ritual Fire Dance, and the Crackle Waltz from Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel, during which the Witch tries to cast the opera’s heroine into her oven (she fails).
