Yu Jin

Winner of many competitions, Ms. Jin won the first prize of the Washington International Competition, Chicago Viola Society Solo Competition, the first prize of the Ohio Viola Society Competition, the Primrose International Competition, the Lionel Tertis International Viola Competition, the Corpus Christi International Competition, the Coleman-Barstow Prize for strings in the Coleman Chamber Competition, and the CIM Concerto Competition. She has played in many music festivals, including the Angel’s fire, Aspen Music Festival, Bravo Vail music festival, Marlboro Music Festival, Music@Menlo, and New York String Orchestra Seminar as principal viola, which performed in Carnegie Hall. In 2007, Ms. Jin was invited to play on tour with musicians from Marlboro. She had her Washington debut presented by The Phillips Collection in 2006, and regularly performed recitals in China. Ms. Jin has collaborated with James Colon, members of Guarneri Quartet, Julliard Quartet, Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio, Mendelssohn Quartet, Orion Quartet, and Cleveland Orchestra. She also was the principal viola of the Canton Symphony Orchestra, the City Music Cleveland, and the second chair of the Red {an Orchestra}. As a teacher, she was invited to give master classes in the events of the Ohio Viola society, Beijing Central Conservatory of Music, and many music festivals. In 2007, Ms Jin joined the Miami String Quartet which is the resident quartet at Kent State University and a visiting artist quartet oat the Hartt School of Music. She studied viola with Jeffrey Irvine at the Cleveland Institute of Music.
