Violinist Thomas Stuart is currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Music program at the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he studies with concert artist Joan Kwuon. Previously, Thomas graduated from CIM’s Young Artist Program, during which he studied chamber music with former Julliard Quartet violinist Joel Smirnoff, and pianist and recitalist Sandra Shapiro in addition to his lessons with Ms. Kwuon. His piano quartet, Quatour Aliquet, were semi-finalists at the prestigious Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, and winners of the Lincoln Center Outstanding Student Performance Award.
Thomas was recently privileged to attend the illustrious Sarasota Music Festival, where he performed in master classes for Anni Kavafian (Yale School of Music), Joseph Silverstein (The Curtis Institute of Music), Alexander Kerr (The Jacobs School of Music), and Pamela Frank (The Curtis Institute of Music). He also attended the Cambridge International Violin Academy in Cambridge England studying with Joshua Fisher (The Royal Academy of Music), Yuzuko Horigome (The Brussels Conservatory), and So-Ock Kim (The Royal Academy of Music). Thomas has also participated in the Aspen Music Festival, studying with Masao Kawasaki (The Juilliard School), and the Bowdoin International Music Festival, studying with Cyrus Forough (Carnegie Mellon University), Yi-wen Jiang (Shanghai String Quartet), and Sergiu Schwartz (Schwob School of Music).
Past awards, performances, and accolades include recitals in CIM’s Mixon Hall, St. Peter’s Cathedral, multiple appearances with the Toledo Symphony, winning the Toledo Symphony Young Artist Competition, and serving as the Concertmaster of the Toledo and Cleveland Youth Orchestras.
CityMusic Cleveland is a professional chamber orchestra that performs free concerts throughout Northeast Ohio,often accompanied by exhibits of local artwork.
