Nina Bell

Nina Bell began playing the trumpet at age ten, shortly after moving with her family from Ramla, Israel to Coral Springs, FL. She lived and studied trumpet in Florida until beginning her Bachelor Degree in Trumpet Performance at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, studying with Charlie Geyer and Barbara Butler and graduating five years later with Departmental Honors and an additional degree in Jewish Studies. While at Northwestern, Nina co-founded the Obsidian Brass Quintet, with whom she actively performed and competed for several years. Nina went on to complete a Masters of Music at the Cleveland Institute of Music, studying with Michael Sachs and receiving both the Dr. Calvin E. Weber Award and the Dr. and Mrs. K.L. Wu Memorial Award in Trumpet. Recent summer engagements include the National Repertory Orchestra in Breckenridge, CO; the Music Academy of the West, in Santa Barbara, CA; and Pacific Music Festival, in Sapporo, Japan. Nina lives in Cleveland Heights, frequently performing as substitute with such orchestras as the Canton Symphony Orchestra, Cleveland Pops Orchestra, Ashland Symphony Orchestra, Mansfield Symphony Orchestra, and Firelands Symphony Orchestra. Nina’s favorite hobbies include reading, traveling, and spending time outdoors.
